Last night, Virginia Beach City Council voted unanimously to fund the purchase of Pleasure House Point, the largest undeveloped parcel of land on the Lynnhaven River (122 acres). This legacy purchase was made possible through a partnership with Trust for Public Land, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, the City of Virginia Beach, and the efforts of citizens and community groups who rallied in an effort to ensure the entire property will be preserved as natural area.

As a mix of shoreline habitat, wetlands and maritime forest, the property has been a top open-space priority for Virginia Beach for a decade. Pleasure House Point, located just west of the Lesner Bridge and south of the Chesapeake Bay, is at the merging of Pleasure House Creek and Crab Creek, overlooking the Lynnhaven Bay.
